The high-purity terephthalic acid (PTA: purified terephthalic acid) produced by Hanwha General Chemical is pure white powder manufactured by oxidizing and refining para-xylene from crude oil.

PTA was developed as a basic raw material for polyester fiber that replaces cotton, a natural fiber. Compared to other products, PTA has excellent heat resistance, mechanical strength, water resistance, abrasion resistance, insulating nature, etc., so it is used as the main raw material for polyester fiber, and also widely used as a raw material for PET resin, film, paint, and industrial materials. Recently, the trend of being used as a raw material for PET bottles is getting stronger, and the demand for these products is growing rapidly.
